Tom Scott, Ph. D.

Dr. Scott taught in Ohio University’s Industrial Technology Department from 1993 to 2013. During that time he was responsible for the development and delivery of several courses including Power Transmission, Industrial Electronics (Analog and Digital), Digital Instrumentation and Controls, Electronic Applications in Manufacturing, Manufacturing Materials, Robotics, Fundamentals of Six Sigma, and Operations Management (College of Business).

Prior to coming to Ohio University, Dr. Scott held various engineering design and management positions at Allison Gas Turbine, General Motors Corporation, during a 28-year period. His responsibilities included management of engine/airframe integration; management of the research, analysis, and application of digital controls to gas turbine engines; and design/development of internal flow systems using analytical and experimental techniques.

Concurrent with his industrial experience, Dr. Scott taught for 10 years in the Manufacturing Engineering Technology Department at Purdue University, Indianapolis. Courses taught included Thermodynamics, Dynamics, Heat and Power, and Introduction to Engineering Technology.

Dr. Scott has been teaching in the MEM program since 2013. His experience covers a range of courses including Quality Systems, Project Management, and the Engineering Management Project.
