Examines social, political, and historical factors that impact the delivery of health care and the development of the nursing discipline. Emphasizes the review and application of selected concepts, models, and selected theories relevant to the health care system and nursing.

This course focuses on analysis of concepts of physiology and pathophysiology and their relationship to nursing interventions across the human life span at the advanced practice level.

This course focuses on pharmacotherapeutics across the life span with emphasis on clinical decision making by advanced practice nurses. Laws governing prescriptive authority and privileges of advanced practice nurses are addressed.

The course focuses on critical appraisal, synthesis of healthcare research, and evaluation of literature to inform evidence-based practice and develop a clinically relevant question.

Focuses on advanced physical assessment skills for nurse practitioner students that moves from the normal to the abnormal and uses a body systems approach. Comprehensive health history coupled with physical examination skills provide a foundation for the in-depth assessment of clients.

Focuses on concepts and issues related to the critical care environment. Include the identification of physical and psychological needs of this critical care patient population as well as family members. Emphasis is being placed on assessment, intervention, and evaluation of the critically ill or injured patient using evidence-based strategies

The focus is on complex symptom management related to acute and emergent physiological alterations in gastrointestinal, genitourinary, endocrine, cardiopulmonary, neurological function, and other select common and complex health problems for adults and older adults in acute care settings. Health promotion, maintenance, and restoration are emphasized through risk assessment and prevention. Advanced role development and collaboration are incorporated.

The focus is on complex symptom management related to acute and emergent physiological alterations in hematological, immunological, musculoskeletal, integumentary function, and other select common and complex health problems for adults and older adults in acute care settings. Health promotion, maintenance, and restoration are emphasized through risk assessment and prevention. Advanced role development and collaboration are incorporated.

The focus of this course is on synthesis of theory and implementation of the role of the adult-gerontology acute care nurse practitioner (AG-ACNP). Experiences emphasize clinical decision-making in an inter-professional environment with focus on the AG-ACNP as a principal provider of care for adults and older adults in acute care settings. Select common and complex health problems in adults and older adults in acute care settings are emphasized.

Course emphasizes student self-evaluation of meeting specific program outcomes and professional competencies through portfolio development. Students also complete a comprehensive final program that includes concepts from all program courses pertaining to population foci based on national certification body competencies. Students complete an integrated care simulation exam with standardized patient.

This course focuses on analysis of theories relevant to the development and functioning of the family. The course includes identification of health care needs across the life span of family members. Emphasis will be placed on assessment, intervention, and evaluation of family-centered care through exploration of evidence-based strategies to enhance, maintain, and restore family health.

Focuses on the advanced nursing knowledge, skills, and experiences by nurse practitioners in primary care. Emphasis is on advanced assessment, diagnosis, and clinical management relevant to the developmental, physical, and psycho-social health issues of individuals and families across the lifespan.

Focuses on the application of advanced assessment, diagnostic, and intervention skills in a clinical practice environment for nurse practitioners in primary care. Emphasis is placed on achieving clinical competence in the advanced practice nursing role with individuals and families across the lifespan and developing the role of the nurse practitioner in collaboration with other health care providers.

Emphasis on non-pharmacologic treatment modalities for treatment of psychiatric mental health disorders by the nurse practitioner. The use of evidence-based therapy and treatment modalities for individuals, groups, and families throughout the lifespan are highlighted.

Focuses on the assessment, diagnosis, and evidence-based therapeutic interventions for psychiatric mental health disorders throughout the lifespan. Emphasis includes planning, implementing, and evaluating interventions by the nurse practitioner with individuals, groups, and families throughout the lifespan. Application of psychotherapeutic modalities and psychopharmacological treatments in both inpatient and community settings throughout the life span are highlighted.

Focuses on the assessment, diagnosis, and evidence-based therapeutic interventions for psychiatric mental health disorders throughout the lifespan. Emphasis includes planning, implementing, and evaluating interventions by the nurse practitioner with individuals, groups, and families throughout the lifespan. Focuses on the use of health assessment data to identify health status of clients by graduate students in the educator and administrator options. The data will be used to document assessment findings and to differentiate between normal and abnormal assessment data. Emphasizes the performance of complete health histories and physical examinations on adult and pediatric clients.

Focuses on roles and responsibilities of nurse educators in relation to theoretical foundations, application, and practice of teaching and learning within a variety of practice settings.

Focuses on nurse educator instructional strategies and issues for delivering education content in the clinical, service, or classroom setting with a variety of learners. Emphasizes ways to facilitate learning with educators in nursing schools, continuing education programs, staff development, and patient education programs.

Focuses on design of education programs for individuals, families, communities, or students. Emphasizes assessment and evaluation approaches based on teaching-learning outcomes for individuals, courses or programs.

Focuses on faculty and preceptor-guided experiences in curriculum development, teaching, and program evaluation in an educational setting as well as advanced nursing care experiences in a direct care setting.

This course emphasizes student self-evaluation of meeting specific program outcomes and professional competencies through portfolio development. Students also complete a comprehensive exam that includes concepts from all program courses and is based on national certification body competencies. Students develop and deliver a nursing education presentation to peers and faculty.
